What is ADHD?

ADHD, or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a medical condition that can be present in adults and children. ADHD is caused by differences in brain development and activity, that can affect a person’s attention and their ability to sit, or stay, still.

What are the Signs of ADHD

The signs of ADHD can be different for different people, but some of the common things to look out for in yourself or a family member or friend are:

Hyperactivity:
Being restless, easily bored or overly fidgety are common signs that you need to get an ADHD assessment. People with ADHD can also often have trouble sitting still, being calm or quiet.

Distracted:
Being distracted or having problems focusing and concentrating is another visible sign of ADHD. Some common ways to spot this include, watching if you or someone you know have problems staying on task, missing important details or they are not good at listening to instructions.

Impulsive:
Acting impulsively, or without thinking and finding it hard to wait or being impatient are other signs of potential ADHD. Looking for emotional reactions that seem too intense, or over the top, can also be pointers that it is time to get a medical assessment.
